Where should the balance lie?

Featured Replies

I am an Aussie, married to a Thai and living in Australia for most of the year.

Right now, I am at the computer obviously.

The wife has Isaan music on the wide screen surround sound whilst she is out tending to the naam-dok-mai and keow-savoy mango trees. We have the bahn-noi in the pergola. For tea we are having something Thai as usual (I don't know what, but it smells good). Our house could be picked up and dumped in Thailand and no-one would notice.

The fact is, I am not particularly patriotic towards Australia and enjoy my little piece of Thailand.

So, should I put another shrimp on the barbie? Should I turn her music off and put Jimmy Barnes on Instead? Maybe we have bangers and mash for dinner for a change?

Just dip some of that shrimp in a spicey thai seafood dip and continue going with the best of two worlds........

Headphones and a smart phone ........

nobody else ever needs to hear your music.

(or you theirs)

There are, of course advantages.

I get two Fathers days a year, and two new years days, and two wedding anniversaries...

But, then again, so does the bride..

edit...(two Mothers days for the bride)

The balance lies in whatever makes the two of you happy as a couple.

What works for one couple is not necessarily the same for others.

Each to there own, and whatever works for you.

You sound like a very happy man.

Why change anything ??

I am more than happy to lean a little to the East.

Frankly I really like Isaan music and Thai food.

Unless you change your ways and start becoming miserable and complaining about everything Thai like the rest of us, then I`m going to report you to the Mods for breaking rule: 1a clause 4b of Thai Visa rules.
