After re-adjusting Kamala Police Station's manpower to cover the areas in question the number of burglaries has decrease.

PHUKET: Kamala police are asking residents to be on their guard following a rising amount of burglaries happening in the area. However, Col ML Pattanachak Chakrabandhu told The Phuket News yesterday (Jan 7) that he believes now the New Year festivities are over the number will reduce.

Col ML Pattanachak said that because police were assigned to other duties during the New Year period, thus reducing manpower, people were using this as an opportunity to carry out burglaries on sois and small streets.

“After receiving complaints and reports about the burglaries we immediately held a meeting to try to counter the problem,” Col ML Pattanachak explained.

“We located the hot spots and found the time the crimes were being committed and re-adjusted our man power to cover the areas in question. Since taking this action we have seen a reduction in burglaries in those areas,” he said.

Although the number of burglaries have now reduced, police are still not completely satisfied with the results because they have only made one arrest.
