NLA’s 2nd Vice President confident all invited parties will join peace promotion committee
NNT News

BANGKOK, 13 January 2015 (NNT) – A vice president of the National Legislative Assembly is confident that all who are invited to join a new committee in charge of the promotion of peace will accept the invitation.

NLA’s Second Vice President Peerasak Porjit said that the proposed setting up of a special committee to study the promotion of peace in society is a good idea.

The proposed idea will be tabled for the NLA’s consideration before it is decided if the issue should be presented to the government for implementation, he said.

Mr. Peerasak added that more than 50 members of the NLA have already endorsed the idea.

He went on to say that this new committee should be comprised of 24 members with no more than a third of them coming from outside.

Nevertheless, Mr. Peerasak is confident that the committee will represent a range of beliefs and ideologies even though some of theUnited Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship members, said they wouldn't join support the idea.

I suspect that members of the Malay-Thai insurgency groups BRN and MARA Patani have not been invited to join the committee.
