kiwijack
I am hoping someone can give me some advice. I have been working in China for many years and now returning to Thailand. I am officially married to a Thai. I have a container of furniture, paintings etc.. personal effects from apartment there that I want to ship back to Bangkok. It all would be worth a fair bit My understanding is that it would be tax free as such. Is this correct? They are owned jointly with wife like some things in a marriage. I have let my O . marriage visa lapse so will return on a tourist visa and then get a new O. Is there a "best" way to go about this from the start? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. Lampang2
1: ship in your Thai wife's name only. 2: avoid absolutely everything but necessary into the container. Preferably pallets. 3: wife needs to be outside Thailand for a minimum of 1 year continously. 4: you must have a receiving agent in Thailand to act as your agent or you are dead. Considering above look for 30K bath bribes (described as tax, handling, transit fees etc etc by the agent) They are 100% criminals, I estimate big bosses to carry away millions of bath per month on bribes at the major port in Chon Buri. Lampang2
If her passport is new, be prepared to show old one as well.
donsonny
Yes, ship the container in your wife name. My wife and I moved from China (1 of many moves) and we didn’t pay 30.000 bath in bribe. No import tax either. Regarding agent, then try to contact White Swan relocation in Bangkok. We used them. .
