Just read on a visa site that if I get a marriage visa I need to ...After obtaining the Marriage Visa, the holder needs to notify at the nearest Immigration office every 90 days.

Is this correct? The reason being is that I intend to get married but will be travelling backwards and forwards to Thailand and some times I will be away from Thailand for more than the 90 days reporting span. What are my best options? A possibility is the retirement visa as I can match the requirements for that but I am not sure of the reporting span for that is it again 90 days?

Just looked on Siam Legal site who state the following....

If you are not in the country when the report is due, the counting of 90-day period before your next reporting will start again after upon re-entry to Thailand.

OK that answers that so basically I only need to report every 90 days while I am in Thailand

But as previously stated I intend travelling in and out of Thailand 3 times a year, Siam Legal state on this basis I will need a METV.... But they then go onto to say I could get a re-entry visa. Can anyone please explain how that would work for my travel needs ..

Re-entry Permit

If you plan to travel in and out of Thailand during the year of your visa validity, you will need a multiple re-entry permit to do so and to avoid your visa from getting cancelled. Otherwise, you need not apply if you plan to stay in Thailand the whole time.

In case you find the need to leave the country for whatever reason, you can apply for a re-entry permit at the nearest Immigration Office or at the international airport before leaving the country.

Once you are married you can apply for a non immigrant 'O' visa based on being married which can be a single entry or multiple entry visa.

A multiple entry visa (5,000 baht) is valid for 1 year and allows you to enter as many times as you want during that year. Every time you enter you are granted a 90 day stay. After 90 days you must leave the country or apply for an extension of stay. No 90 day reporting is necessary. Any of the 90 day entries can be extended for 60 days or 1 year. If fully utilised this visa plus a 60 day extension, of the last 90 day entry, can last nearly 17 months before needing a new visa or applying for a 1 year extension.

A single entry visa (2,000 baht) is usually used by people wanting to apply for a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage. During the last 30 days of it's one time 90 day entry you can apply for a 1 year extension. You need 400k in a Thai bank for two months prior to the application date or a certified income of 40k pm. You can renew this extension of stay each year with the same finical criteria. If you stay in the country longer than 90 days you need to make a 90 day report.

Once/if you have a 1 year extension of stay you can leave the country but need a re-entry permit (1,000 baht). On re-entry to the country the IO uses the permit and stamps you back in for the remainder of your 1 year extension. You can buy a multiple re-entry permit for 3,800 baht which allows you to come and go as often as you want within the year.
