US to Provide Disaster Prevention Equipment

Newly appointed US ambassador to Cambodia William Heidt told Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace yesterday that the United Nations will provide equipment for disaster prevention to Cambodia. After the meeting, the prime minister’s assistant, Eang Sophalleth, told the media about three prior meetings between Mr. Hun Sen and three newly appointed ambassadors to Cambodia from Cuba, the US, and EU.

“He [Mr. Heidt] also told Samdech about US’s assistance, that the US would assist Cambodia in human resource training and in providing equipment to prevent disasters,” Mr. Sophalleth said. He added that the equipment will be used to prevent disasters and also aid citizens when they do strike.
