PRD personnel trained to use social media to combat corruption

Bangkok, 8 February 2016 (NNT) – The Public Relations Department (PRD) has joined hands with the National Anti-Corruption Committee to enhance the capabilities of its personnel in combating corruption through the use of social networking.

PRD Director-General Apinan Chantarangsri chaired the opening of the training session, titled “Using Information Technology and Public Relations to Combat Corruption” at Dusit Place Hotel.

The training was organized by the PRD’s Office of Public Relations Development and the National Anti-Corruption Committee to build understanding among PRD personnel on how they can use media such as social networks to fight corruption personally, as a group or as an organization.

A total 5 sessions are to be held from February through March with each consisting of speeches and active training. Topics of the sessions span from basic knowledge and definitions to understanding the capabilities of social media.

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the THAILAND Zone."

Does that mean they can post or use the "Like" button on Facebook for anything they want?

I think a few have been practicing their newfound propaganda skills on TV.

Ouch!

Looks like tons of defamation and libel suits and potential violations of the utterly restrictive computer crimes act coming their way.

Unfortunately, corruption cannot be fought unless one steps on certain individuals' toes - especially those of individuals from within the government's own ranks.

Can I control the vertical and horizontal? Oh never-mind, different TV series and my TV doesn't have either HOR or VERT controls anymore. Although, we do tend to be on the Outer Limits of common sense here in the LOS at times.

The training was organized by the PRD’s Office of Public Relations Development and the National Anti-Corruption Committee

The NACC's involvement in this training of government employees is a violation of its charter as an Independent Organization.

Such co-opting creates a unity of action that in effect makes the NACC accountable for the operational efficiency of a government group. Such responsibility belongs exclusively with the Executive Branch leadership, ie., Prayut.

Such joint training effectively melds the NACC into the Prayut government. Perhaps convenient for Prayut but gives a perception that NACC is now part of the Prayut regime. And maybe that's the greater truth. wai2.gif
