NRSA's Alongkorn suggests public consider issues in Thailand before reviewing draft charter

BANGKOK, 15 February 2016 (NNT) – A vice president of the National Reform Steering Assembly has suggested the public consider all pressing issues Thailand has been facing before reviewing the draft Constitution.

NRSA’s First vice President Alongkorn Ponlaboot said that he has heard criticisms about the draft charter and found they are quite beneficial for the Constitution Drafting Commission’s final touches to the draft.

However, Mr. Alongkorn believes that everyone should consider six main issues which Thailand needs to tackle.

Mr. Alongkorn was referring to corruption, economic and social inequality, electoral fraud, democratic problems and conflicts, weak law enforcement, and problems related to public and government administration as well as public services.

He added that, while making personal judgment by referring to principles and theories is an individual right, the matter of the draft charter should take into account major problems of the country as it needs also to benefit the future.

But publicizing them is a crime.

This draft constitution is about preserving military dominance in governance of Thailand irrespective of any changes in the government or the monarchy. Thus, democratic problems and conflicts is viewed as a major issue.
