Ministry of Public Health on alert for polio patients

BANGKOK, 17 February 2016 (NNT) – Department of Disease Control (DDC) Director General Amnuay Kajina said provincial health officials have been advised to implement intensive measures to prevent and control polio by vaccination to all children as soon as possible.

The Public Health Ministry’s officials and medical staff, especially those working in border areas, have been instructed to search for polio patients.

Thailand where no polio patients have been reported since the last 18 years currently remains at risk due to a polio outbreak in a neighboring country. Thailand and other countries will apply a new polio vaccine in April in order to eradicate the disease in the next four years in accordance with a global anti-polio strategy.

Rotary International have been at the forefront of Polio eradication in the world , if there is any adult who feels that they need to know what is in the vaccine BEFORE have their child immunised tyhen that parent is not opn the same planet. I remember seeing children affected by Polio in my childhood, is is a very serious and debilitating disease NO parent should think twice, unlike the Taliban who think it is a form of birth control, we in the West have eradicated this disease hopefully permanently , any outbreak would spread very quickly amongst un-immunised communities.
