Bangkok shrine bombers first targeted pier for Chinese tourists
By Amy Sawitta Lefevre and Andrew R.C. Marshall

BANGKOK (Reuters) - The perpetrators of last year's deadly explosion at a Bangkok shrine originally chose a pier packed with Chinese tourists as their primary target and had amassed enough chemicals to make 10 equally powerful bombs, the chief of Thailand's police bomb squad told Reuters.

A bomb planted at the Erawan Shrine on Aug. 17 killed 20 people and turned a popular tourist site into a scene of carnage.

Another device, which was left at a crowded pier on Bangkok's Chao Phraya river but failed to explode, might have inflicted much greater casualties, said a leading security analyst.

And yet there are still officials who deny this was terrorism.

10 X Bombs = innocent in the 100's dead , I am happy the "innocent" bombers are having to prove their innocense from behind bars, We don't hear the accused embassies calling foul treatment and trumped up charges of the accused and no push from them for bail application through the lawyers representing,

just maybe they have been privileged to view the material the public has not been shown. It is left to the laywers to cry of treatment , seek and salvage what advantages they can as a defence, as is the accused "rights, under the law"

some how it does not balance out for the innocent dead,

And yet there are still officials who deny this was terrorism.

US government itself don't recognize terrorism in this case.....

Who cares what the US government recognizes or not in this case?

That may be because the US knows more about this than the accused themselves! Just perhaps. eh?

This sounds like trying to save face now ?

That's because China won't call it terrorism. They use: criminal, thugs, hooligans, anti-social elelements. Anything but the T word.

Those guys who got caught are surely the guilty ones + more who are on the run......yet people still think that they were "coerced" into making confessions. What a joke.

Why are they "Surely the guilty ones"?
