FedEx Rates for triangle tubes?

Hi ForumMates!

Although the standard of English at FedEx customer service is very good, I often find myself frustrated trying to communicate with them. My Thai partner has the same experience speaking with them in Thai. Although for years, we have shipped rolled painings with them using the standard FedEx packaging, "tringle tube," when we refer to that in English or in Thai, they often don't know what we are talking aobut.

Sorry for the long-winded introduction. We are just trying to get an up date on the most current rates and were told that the triangle tube rates start at 4 kg. which makes the cheapest rate a 1 kg painting (including the packaging) to the U.S. 5,500 THB. That can't be right! I suspect that they are erroneously computing the rate by weight + dimensions, which I don't think should apply when using their standard FedEx packaging.

Anyway, do any of yooze guys happen to be very familar with shipping FedEx Triangle Tubes? Can you confirm, does the rate really start at 4 kg? Or was the rep we spoke to just misapplying the weight + dimensions rule or something? /b

Thanks, lah!

Thank you for taking the time to reply, Mr. Mod. Yes, I have checked the FedEx website. It doesn't say anything about using 4 kg when determining the rate for triangle tubes.

If you have had no luck or cant get a satisfactory explanation from Thai FedEx, why not contact the other end (US?) and see what they say and ask them to convey it (explain) to the Thai side, attack the problem from the other end so to speak, just a suggestion.

I contacted them twice last week for a map of their locations in both Pattaya and Lam Chabang and got an email response with attached maps within hours of making the inquiry
