BANGKOK: -- Bangkok will have two more electric train routes linking the capital's eastern suburb to the southern suburbs, and its neighbouring Samrong district of Samut Prakarn province.

The two rail projects were given approval by the Public-Private Partnership Committee yesterday.

PPP gave approval for plans to invest in the construction of the Yellow and Pink mono rail elevated electric train lines and will be forwarding the recommendation to the cabinet in March.

The projects were revealed at the meeting of the PPP chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak.

The PPP discussed the possibility of organizing a public bidding for investment into the Yellow and the Pink single rail elevated electric train lines.

An agreement was reached approving the move and the proposal will be forwarded to the cabinet in March of this year.

If approved by the cabinet, bidding for the projects is slated to begin in June.

The monorail projects will connect Khaerai in Bangkok’s North and Minburi in Bangkok’s East along the Pink Line.

The Yellow Line will connect Lardprao in eastern Bangkok and Samrong district of Samut Prakarn.

With regards to plan to extend the Blue Line which will connect Hua Lamphong train station to Kanchanaphisek ring road, the matter is on the agenda in the next meeting of the Public-Private Partnership Committee.

The new yellow line goes most of the length of Lat Phrao Rd. I have seen traffic jams on LP Rd at 7am on a Sunday morning! Imagine the utter traffic chaos there when construction begins!!! thumbsup.gif
