Train To Airport(Suvarnapoom)

Featured Replies

Does anyone know where this trains stops. I know it goes to Makkasan . All I know about Makkasan is that The Clash took a photo there re 1981 for their album cover. Although a long time resident here, I've only one been to the new airport.

I can't find any maps of the train and forgotten what it's called - MRS or something. Thanks

Airport Rail Link's last stop is at Phaya Thai station where it connects to BTS.

At Makasan, it connects to MRT.

Here is a map.

The map above shows an express line. This is not running now.

Edit: Another map...

Thanks all!

Just booked a hotel near makasan - the D Varee Xpress.

If you're staying in the city for more than one night, and it's not too late to change, the area south of Ratchaprarop (Pratunam) has much more things to do than Makkasan. There are a few hotels just around the corner from the station, including the Baiyoke Sky.

True, but the regular ARL line is running - same same but a bit slower, and a lot cheaper :)

...... and a lot less comfortable seating and NO luggage racks. Express cars were designed for the job. It is damned ridiculous its been taken out of use. What about the initial cost of the sets?

Dunno about the comfort - never had a problem with such a short trip to the city, usually though I come without luggage, so don't know if that could be an issue for anyone :) The Express line was pulled because of maintenance costs / life cycle ending on the overburdened trains, as far as I remember.

Don't use your Clash album as a reference . Markkasan doesn't look like this anymore.
