Hello Thai Visa family,

I have heard that there has been a relaxing of the penalties of working in Thailand if you are on a long term visa or on a retirement visa. What i heard, from retired musicians living here in Thailand , is that you are allowed to work in venues playing your instrument as long as it is not the same place (venue) every day? i really am skeptical that this is true ...... can anyone in the know about working requirements or being a freelance musician here in Thailand give me the real facts.

All work undertaken in Thailand requires an appropriate visa and work permit. There are no exceptions and "freelance work" cannot qualify for either a visa or work permit.

Those with extensions based on retirement are not permitted to work.

I work hard every day, being polite, being jai yen. I work spending money in my community, I work trying to communicate with Thai people, there is no W.P. for that and no special visa necessary.
