October 25, 200619 yr Hello to all, my first post. Please help me go to the Thai Immigration office in Bangkok, starting from any skytrain or subway exit. Also when are they open ? Thanks !
October 25, 200619 yr The Immigration office is located on Soi Suan Plu. From the BTS, just take a taxi from Chong Nonsi or Surasak station. The journey will take approx 10 minutes depending on traffic.

I live in a village near Korat with almost zero internet and with a visa problem coming up in the near future I rented a condo in Bangkok today with fast internet.... what a day. One more question, what should I say to the taxi driver ? My Thai is terrible. Thanks again !
October 25, 200619 yr You can tell Taxi "Soi Suan Phlu" Most Taxi Drivers will guess you need Immigration Police I would recommend going on the Subway - MRT to Lumphini Station Exit 2 That is at the top of Sathorn Road It is easy to get Taxi there You might find some Taxi even waiting Soi Suan Phlu is the First MAIN soi on the Left. Return Jouney ... - Lumphini station is not so easy for a Taxi to go to - actually I walked - for some Exercise !!! It will be easier for a Taxi to go to Sky Train Chong Nonsi or Sala Daeng - which "connects" to MRT Silom Station Sky Train = Lot Fay Fa Subway = Lot Fay Fa Die Din
October 26, 200619 yr Thank You youngkiwi. I will sleep good tonight now knowing how to start this "trip"tomorrow. I live in a village near Korat with almost zero internet and with a visa problem coming up in the near future I rented a condo in Bangkok today with fast internet.... what a day. One more question, what should I say to the taxi driver ? My Thai is terrible. Thanks again ! I live right near immigration, so I use this one a lot. I think Soi 8 is the nearest soi, but the post office is adjoining for sure. Go to Sala Daeng BTS or Lumphini MRT and take a tuk tuk or moto for 30 baht (20 baht if you're Thai) and tell the driver, "Suan Plu soi bpad krab" and you'll arrive - sim sim sala bim - a block from immigration, just get off and walk opposite the direction you came from and it'll be the giant white building with the wall around it on your left. If you arrive at Sala Daeng, there's a moto stand just around the corner of Silom and Convent where a bunch of tuk tuks and motos congregate. It's literally a 5 minute ride at most (if it's rush hour, take a moto, Sathorn is a nightmare and Suan Plu isn't much better). There's also a saengtaew (lot daeng) that runs near Sala Daeng and Lumphini to the front of immigration, it's marked "1240" I think, but that's a little trickier if you don't know the area.I'd tell you how to say immigration or post office, but I haven't learned the former in my studies yet and the latter I haven't used but once - something like prai saa nii. Someone here knows it surely.
