PM to join Nuclear Industry Summit 2016

BANGKOK, 28 March 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister will be joining the Nuclear Industry Summit (NIS) 2016 in the United States, echoing Thailand’s intention to cooperate in nuclear security, and is set to receive the Nuclear Industry Summit Awards for Thailand’s proper regulation and use of nuclear technology.

The Government Deputy Spokesman Maj Gen Weerachon Sukhonthapatipak has revealed that Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-o-cha will be attending NIS 2016 in Washington DC, the United States, during 31 March - 1 April 2016.

NIS 2016 is the 4th instance of the summit and Gen Prayuth will be representing Thailand among the attendance of 50 global leaders, including Canada, France, Brazil, Japan, and India.

The deputy spokesman has said the Prime Minister will take this opportunity to stress Thailand’s intention to encourage the continuity of nuclear works through international organization and cooperation, as well as enhancements to the capability of agencies and personnel, towards the foundation of nuclear security, as currently Thailand utilizes nuclear technology for medical and education purposes.

The Thai PM will also represent Thailand to receive the Nuclear Industry Summit Awards, which reflects Thailand’s proper management and implementation of nuclear technology.

Words fail me.

...and is set to receive the one of the ten Nuclear Industry Summit Awards, the Atoms for Peace Award, for Thailand’s proper regulation and use of nuclear technology. Co-recipients of the Atoms for Peace Award are Federative Republic of Brazil, Republic of Chile, Czech Republic, Kingdom of Denmark, Georgia, Hungary, Republic of Korea, United Mexican States, Republic of the Philippines, Romania, Kingdom of Spain, Kingdom of Sweden, Republic of Turkey, Ukraine, and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Fixed.

An award, not the award as the propaganda article implies.

What a joke!

Well they won't be building a pressurized water cooled reactor.

They haven't got any bloody water!

I've had a couple of beers and I thought they were going to give him a nuclear bomb.imagine him with his finger on the red button.

In other words it means...you ain't got the cash or nugget to build a bomb,so here's a medal.

I would be very surprised if the General and most/any of his entourage would have any idea of the nuclear facilities that actually operate here in Thailand........

Is there a nuclear physicist in the house?...............................coffee1.gif

I bett you he secretly loves the US.

Words fail me.

You need translator sir?

I've had a couple of beers and I thought they were going to give him a nuclear bomb.imagine him with his finger on the red button.

Shhh, You cannot say Red.

The USA Inc is going to keep this guy busy so as to "have to" have an alliance with the cabal rather than China.

chim dai!

Thailand to receive the Nuclear Industry Summit Awards, which reflects Thailand’s proper management and implementation of nuclear technology.

Please tell him not to touch anything on display!

We need him to visit the Electric Train Industry Summit Awards to receive the Oscar for outstanding maintenance and safety.

Words fail me.

thailand has nuke tech ? yea.. as in "x ray machines"

This is very strange indeed. Why would anyone get involved with Tepco who is against corruption, etc...? Bizarre events.

This award is basically a good behavior gold star.

Thailand has no nuclear power plant for electrical production. Its 2MW plant built in 2008 is one-sixth the capacity of the world's smallest commercial nuclear reactor. It is used only for Isotope production, Gem irradiation, Diagnostics and Neutronic research.

If they ever do develop nuclear powerplants here at least there will not be a shortage of Homer Simpsons to run them.......

OH geeze.... sorry I'm too afraid to continue reading the article b/c I saw - Thailand and nuclear together.... WOW.... chilling thought. But I will read your comments. :-)

They can't properly regulate parking tickets, so how do they regulate nuclear entities or technology!

Thailand has a 2 MW nuclear reactor and has had one since 1961...so No not as only in X-ray machines, but they do have them also

they also produce isotopes for medicine and industrial use as well
