Immigration Bureau arrests cross-border suspect of drug dealing

BANGKOK, 4 April 2016 (NNT) - A South Korean man charged by Interpol with illegal drug sales was arrested by the Immigration Bureau police officers on Sunday.

Commander of the Immigration Bureau Pol.Lt.Gen.Natthorn Phrohsunthorn said the arrested suspect was a 47 year-old South Korean man who was under a Red Notice of Interpol.

He had escaped to live with his Thai wife in Thailand before he was arrested. In 2011, the suspect advertised to sell ecstacy, methamphetamine and other stimulants on a website.

He was charged with drug dealing with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, said the commander.

The commander added that the suspect entered and left Thailand many times from 2012-2014. His partner visa will expire on 26 October 2016.

The bureau revoked the permission for him to stay in Thailand and put him on a blacklist.

A man under a Red Notice from Interpol entered and left Thailand many times from 2012-2014 without being identified. One has to ask, were the Immigration Bureau police officers being paid to let him through, presumably with large quantities of illicit substances, or were they simply incompetent?

"The bureau revoked the permission for him to stay in Thailand and put him on a blacklist."

was he arrested or deported to korea or some country he has travelled from?

if send to korea, info about his visa expiration or blacklist is irrelevant, as he will serve life imprisonment
