Please help with advice on where to relocate for a few months. My overly-long explanation ahead...

I've spent a decent amount of time in Prachuap and Surat.

Both cities are off the typical tourist track. Both get traffic, but always passing through on their way to western holiday spots.

The only downside is the lack of English signage for figuring out how to get to and from etc, or food at markets.

I went to koh phangan, to the more remote beaches, to swim and acclimate, but after a few days I got burned out on the farang influence (i realize I'm contributing to it) and inflated prices. Prachuap has beaches all around it and renting a motorbike is cheaper and safer there. Tempted to go back...

I think I'm headed north to the mountains outside Chiang Mai. Not pai though. I've received some recommendations on nice villages where the sweltering heat dissipates and cool nights are abundant. People here were right that I came at a time that can be unbearably hot.

Overall I'm achieving what I set out to do: read a ton, meditate, clear my head. It's only just begun and I have two more months to go.

Did you ever go to Burma or Vietnam?

Your 'dream' or 'vision' is totally without focus

What do you want to achieve? Why do you want to do this, whatever it is? What are your priorities for success? How would you estimate your success or failure? How are you going to live? With whom.? What skills do you have that you can deploy? Seems like you are adrift in the world. Neither Thailand nor Bali is going to solve that problem.I guess you are not poor. I would say that, as a start, think about finding somewhere where you can learn from people for whom materialism is not the be all and end all of life and to whose lives you could contribute also. As always, a lot of chaffe to sift through to find anything usefull here on TV.

Sadly, you will encounter pretty much the same when mixing in person here, IMO.

Foreigner know alls and travelling gurus who just love to educate all with their worldly knowledge. lol

But you will soon find those truths within yourself, from doing the opposite, isolating yourself from those types..

You will often be to busy employing new skills and having new and different experiences to worry about this so called ' seeking enlightenment ' gibberish.

'Allowing' without striving is all you need to allow the subconcious mind to present its own truths. No need for gurus and monks IMO.

You've already got all the tools.

Being free of working amongst the rat race back home comes in as no.1 IMO.

Maybe have a fast for a few days, only drinking tea, and put your energy into observing the lives of the locals, and how it life must be for them.

It involves letting our egos and our normal thought patterns and inherited biases to take a back seat.

I assume the more negative views here come from those jaded from "Thais only want your help in form of money, nothing else".

Its easy to fall into that, but it comes from your choices and where you place yourself IMO.

Just obseving normal life here certainly allows one to delve a bit further into what we know as HUMAN nature.

Go to Nan and Loei province,both are probably the most beautiful in Thailand.

Well. I did Just that for 4 month stay in m'y wife village. I rallye need some time for myself after years of hard work, business, children, ex wife, bank and the usual day to day stress. Every thing was in place and I coule go away.

I did à lot of gardening, planing, small repaire around the house. And as m'y sister in law is the puyabaan and very involved in the communeauty. . I did participation to All thé action that she organised éven some bouddhiste one plus thé wedding and crémation where I gived à handicap

I came back much relaxed and with à peaceful mind.

Every thing got better after that

Will be planting rice next month in Isaan. Be able to reflect alot whilest bent over.
