PHUKET: A recently leaked 'intelligence report' that has created a stir on social media was knocked back yesterday when Immigration Commissioner Nathathorn Prousoontorn told local media in Phuket that there were no records of the the report's alleged terrorist suspects entering Thailand. The report had indicated that four terrorists had entered Phuket and Samui to destabilize the popular holiday destinations.

The report from the National Intelligence Coordinating Center (NICC) states that two of the suspects are ethnic Uyghur. Thailand blamed members of the aggrieved ethnic minority in western China for the Bangkok blasts that killed 20 people, most of them ethnic Chinese tourists, last year.

The attack was thought to be retaliation by Uighur militants for Thailand's deportation of 109 Uighurs, a move widely criticized by foreign governments and human rights agencies, which said the Uighurs were likely to face persecution in China.

According to the report, one of the two Uyghur terrorists entered Phuket on March 23.

Even terrorists need a holiday, Thailand is popular with people from all walks of life.

Just because someone who is on a list of terrorist suspects enters Thailand, it does not necessarily follow that the reason is terrorism.

Intelligence reports are best kept secret from the public in a country like Thailand, the general public don't know how to in interpret the data and jump to conclusions.

"assuring that there were no records of the suspects entering Thailand"

That could mean one of two things:

1. they did not enter Thailand

2. they did enter Thailand but did it with a false name, passport, or your system is not water tight.

In no way you can dismiss a threat like this by simply stating you have no record of them entering the country and therefore there is nothing to worry about.

Talk to Prawit....his face was attached to the report!.......but of course....the so called terrorists never really were in Thailand.........brilliant intel work!

Well it would blow a hole in their theory of how 90 day reporting and the new overstay ban rules were needed to ensure their are no bad guys in Thailand, wouldn't it.

Slap head in disbelief...so in your book, it's OK to let known terrorists travel for their holidays is it? What's that, a time out call?

Too funny, an earlier post when this was first reported did say that the next official

report would deny any report of a terrorist threat. facepalm.gif

Seems not all terrorist enter legaly.

So meaningless to say its not true based on immigration reports.

But then there is also no evidence that there are terrorist in Phuket ☺

Having said that at least Thailand tries.

EU lets everbody in no checks , transports the immigrants and terrorists for free all over Europe.

You have got to be joking right!!!

If someone on a terrorist list (Uighur) enters Thailand which is know to have deported their countrymen the visit is NOT going to be for holiday purposes.

Or, that for malicious reason unknown a completely ficticious"leak"was publicized?

We can see for ourselves if they are here as addresses of foreigners on the Immigration database are published on the internet for everyone to see - it might be called transparency.

I know its a very hard job but how come Immigration expect them to come with public transport, what kind of intelligence is that? given the lights of the Tunesian beach attacks this year, places like patong still causing a serious threat when the bad guys enter on speedboats from the sea for example... the amount of police patrols are close to zero everywhere and there are not much police dogs sniffing for explosives in airports just only after major incidents... lets hope there will be no problems but "hope" is not in the dictionary of a proper policeman i'm pretty sure so better be aware and vigilant meanwhile how ironic more people killed by road accidents and negligence then any other crime i guess sad.png

Is there anyone out there who did not expect this back pedaling?

ehhh,,,, how many commissioners are there ? generals , colonels , admirals , captains , chief's , majors , kinda like Italy pre-wwII . for every grunt there were 6 officers declaring death to france .....back home we call these types rhinestone cowboy's . open their mouths and shxt themselvs ......

Perhaps commissioner should have said "No intelligence comes from NICC". A further note is immigration has requested terrorists to please come in and register.

we did have but its been erased so therefore we have no record of this gigglem.gif

So by your way of thinking if their visa's are checked and they have tourist as opposed to business visa there is nothing to worry about.

So If you know someone is a rapist you Wold still invite him to sleep over at your home with wife and daughter while you are away. Doesnt mean he would rape them though

Hopefully i missunderstood what you wrote

"no intelligence" make sense to me whistling.gif

Putting brain into gear before engaging mouth could work? Nah, that's a "farang" idea?

We have no records of anyone entering Thailand at any point in time and at any point of entry, this is very reassuring to everyone who has never entered Thailand at any time or point of entry, as it makes us feel so very very safe, thank you thank you Mr. Immigration guy! Donate your brain to science so they can figure out where stupidity arises in the brain....
