Re-entry permit while on 90 day non-immigrant B visa

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum. I was hoping that someone with more knowledge and experience than me could enlighten me on this issue.

Here's my situation. I'm in Thailand (Bangkok) now on a 90 day non-immigrant B visa, and I'll be getting a work permit within these next 90 days. There's a conference in Taiwan next month that I have some interest in attending, but I don't know if I'll have a work permit by then. My understanding is that acquiring a re-entry permit while on a work permit is not a big deal, but would it be possible for me to get a re-entry permit while I'm still on the 90 day non-immigrant visa (before I get a work permit)?

Thank you in advance to anyone who can share information about this.

You can get a single re-entry permit that will keep the remainder of your 90 day entry from the non-b visa valid when you return form your trip.

Getting a work permit has nothing to do with your permit to stay in the country. After you have a work permit you will need to apply for an extension of stay at immigration,

Just like to add, I did it last month, was on a non-B , had to rush back for an emergency,

DIi mine in Don Mueng,

At the immigration queue, just tell them you want re-entry permit, than go behind counter into a small office, have a pic ready & 1000BHT , they'll do the rest.

When re-entering thailand, fill the re-entry permit no. in the visa section of your embarkment card.

Thank you for your answers. I feel like I have a better understanding of the process now.

Where?

There is no requirement to have a work permit unless you are working here.

I think the IO thought I was already working here, but Im in the process of applying for a permit, and will be flying in and out a few more times

Is it possible the IO has put a note on the computer that I need show a work permit next time?

Was that at a border crossing or an airport?

Just a comment from an immigration officer that is not aware of the real requirements.
