gf says no

it grows everywhere in south east asia but she has only seen it in farang land

sorrel = rumex acetosa

Due to a table from Mahidol University:

http://medplant.mahidol.ac.th/tpex/poison/poison.htm

สกุลผักกาดส้ม sà-gun pàk gàat sôm

Translates like "family of sour ? vegetables.

Sour at least reminds to the name in German.

Maybe the ผักกาดส้ม pàk gàat sôm is enough?

Do you or your gf recognize it on this site?

its very similar but has no other things than leaves, at least in north america

i want to get seeds. It's really sour lettuce, no flower or anything

If you are talking about the roselle or sorrel leaf (a species of hibiscus, which is often used to make tea), its scientific name is Hibiscus sabdariffa and is known in Thai as:

KRACHIAP or BAI KRACHIAP (กระเจี๊ยบ or ใบกระเจี๊ยบ) (roselle/sorrel or roselle/sorrel leaves)

KRACHIAP DAENG (กระเจี๊ยบแดง) (red roselle/red sorrel)

Please note that the word KRACHIAP also means okra.

If you are talking about common sorrel (the leaf herb, which has a sour taste), its scientific name is Rumex acetosa and the only name I have come across for this in Thai is:

SOREN (ซอเรล)

I hope this has been of help and will try to research more.

Apparently the common sorrel is also known as:

SAKUN PHAK KAT SOM (สกุลผักกาดส้ม)

gonna try to grow 3sqm of it :>

Glad to hear that bearpolar. Congratulations!

I've actually never seen it or eaten it. If I ever do find it, I will try it, but I think it will be difficult to find here in Japan.

Think of a tasteless salad leaf that has been dipped in lemon juice for 2-3days
