Mon drugs team arrested after sting in northern Bangkok

BANGKOK: -- Shots were fired in a drugs bust in Pathum Thani north of Bangkok Thursday as a husband and wife team were arrested.

A sting was set up on the Tiwanon Road in the early hours and when the suspects - a Mon couple staying at Pak Kret, Nonthaburi - attempted to flee in their Honda Accord the back tire was shot out. A police vehicle was also damaged in a collision, Thairath reports.

After 200 Ya Ba pills were found in the car the investigators proceeded to the suspects' house where 13,000 pills were found along with 103 grams of ice.

Arrested were married couple Jakrapong (or Joy) Sisakaew, 28, and Rasami (or Tik) Intrasorn 29. A shot gun with two bullets and the car were taken in as evidence along with the drugs.

Korawat Hanpradit of the Pak Klong Rangsit force said that the operation was part of measures stepped up to stop the flow of drugs during the Songkran festival.
