The Chairman of the National Disaster Warning Center warns southern residents of severe drought next year

The Chairman of the National Disaster Warning Center, Dr. Smith Dharmasaroj (สมิธ ธรรมสโรช), has urged southern residents, particularly those who are living in six provinces along the Andaman Sea, to prepare themselves for severe drought, which is expected to happen next year. He has also recommended related units to reserve as much as water in the dams.

Because of the consecutively natural changes which are causing hazardous floods in many areas, Mr. Smith has expressed concerns over drought catastrophe anticipated to happen next year in the South of Thailand. Risky areas in six provinces along the Andaman Sea should be on alert of the foreseen phenomena.

He, nevertheless, ensured security in the provinces that disaster early warning systems have been installed in eighty risky zones where a lot of tourists predicted to visit next year.

He finally concluded that the drought crisis could be lessened if all parties collaborate and be ready to deal with such phenomena.
