Hello,

I have two quick questions and I just want to verify that my assumptions are correct.

1) My current visa expires on Saturday, for various reasons I'm unable to get to immigration until Monday. I intend to extend for 30 days. I'm on a non-O based on family and am currently in the first 60 days. My question is, when I arrive to apply for an extension, do I pay the fine while processing the extension or is there another office at Immigration Division 1 where I pay the overstay? I'd hate to wait in that long line and then be told to go to another line and then back...

2) I'm leaving Thailand on May 30th bound for Japan and won't be returning for at least a year, once I extend for 30 days my new stamp will be wither the 23rd or the 25th (not sure if they'll give me 30 days from the point of which I overstayed or from the point of which I was stamped. Regardless, my extension will expire between 5-7 days before my flight. I understand that I can just pay the fine at the airport however, is it possible to get a 2nd extension? I recall reading somewhere you could get a second, 7 day extension, which would be perfect for me in this situation.

Thank you in advance.

1 A non-o visa allows a 90 day entry not 60 days. Look at the entry stamp in your passport to see what date is on it.

If you go immigration on Monday you will not be charged an overstay fine since your permit to stay ends when the office is closed.

2. You can only apply for a 60 day extension to visit your family. There is no 30 day extension for a non immigrant visa entry.

Your will wife or child must be with you when you apply for the 60 day extension.

Thanks! Sorry about the other thread, I was unable to locate it, possible latency on the forum updating so I created a second post.

Regarding not being fined, do I simply go to the extension section like normal or will I need to have someone add another stamp with Monday's date before attempting to extend?

  • You can only apply for a 60 day extension of stay on the basis of visiting your wife/family. It cost the same as a 30 day extension. 1,900 baht.
  • You shouldn't be charged any overstay fine if you apply for the extension of the first working day (Monday) after your current permit to stay expires.

When applying for your 60 day extension of stay you will need.....

Original marriage certificate plus signed copy.

Signed copies of wife's ID and Tabien Baan.

Signed copies of your passport pages: ID page, visa, entry stamp, departure card.

1 x photo 6 x 4.

Your wife or child will need to go with you.

Maybe a TM30.

1,900 baht.
