Thai Red Cross Society holds four-day blood drive

BANGKOK, 9 May 2016, (NNT) - The Thai Red Cross Society recently held a four-day blood drive to commemorate World Red Cross Day on May 8.

The event was at the National Blood Center in the Thai Red Cross Society's headquarters on Henry Dununt Road, highlighting the organization's humanitarian principles. An exhibition about blood donation was also held at the venue.

A large number of blood donors lined up to donate blood from early morning at the National Blood Center, prompting the Thai Red Cross Society to increase its staff numbers to facilitate the process. All donors received a t-shirt as a souvenir of their donation.

The event, which started on May 5 and concluded on May 8, was able to generate an average of 1,700 units of blood daily.

Well if they adhered to their web saite many foreigners over 65 would Iam sure donate. But even though the web site says 70, they stop at 65 or even 60.

So I agree with blood donation but it is their petty rules that stop so many foreigners donating and many have a rarer blood than the average Thai. My mother in the UK stopped at 80+.
