Security tightened in Bangkok after bombs thrown near Din Daeng apartment block

BANGKOK:-- A hunt is on for two men who arrived at a block of apartments in Din Daeng and threw homemade bombs at a group of youths playing football.

Two of the devices - described as ping pong bombs - exploded and police found another intact. Police said it was very lucky that no deaths or injuries were caused, reports Daily News.

Phiboon Saengkla of the Din Daeng, Bangkok, force said that the incident occurred at the flats on the Mitrmaitri Road in Din Daeng. One bomb wound in black tape with about a 5cm diameter was found along with the fragments and marks caused by two others that had exploded.

Evidence was given that two men had arrived on a Honda Click motorbike as a group of youths were playing football.

The youth on the back of the bike aged about 16 or 17 who was dressed in black and not wearing a helmet got off and threw three bombs before the pair sped off into the night.

Police suspect trouble between rival groups of young people and have ordered a tightening of security in the area as the bomb suspects are hunted.

Hmm.... didn't we just read the other day about 6 burmese workers being killed when the house where they were working to assemble "fireworks" -- aka ping pong bombs -- exploded sky high??? And now a ping pong ball bombing just a short while thereafter. Hmmm....

This will become business as usual...cleaning up after a bombing...in the new and unimproved Thailand...

Just ask the "youths playing football". It's quite likely they know who the culprits are.

these kids, they dont use their fist. They love machete, bullet and ping pong bombs.
