Govt social enterprise company not allowing capitalist taking over local businesses

BANGKOK, 30 May 2016 (NNT) – The government’s public-government cooperation social enterprise company campaign is a mechanism to enhance economic growth, says a spokesman.

The Government Spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd has addressed a topic of public misunderstanding involving the government's establishment of a social enterprise company that will allow capitalists to take over local business. He said that all sides should open up and consider every aspect in this campaign before arriving on a conclusion.

He revealed that the initial majority of the company's stockholders, at 76 percent, are the 76 provinces of Thailand. The remaining 24 percent of the stocks will be held by private companies as sponsorship. The company's board of directors will include individuals from the government, the private sector, the general public, academics, and the civil society.

The government spokesman has elaborated on the “public-government cooperation”, that the social enterprise will act as a mediator to provide assistance to local entrepreneurs in agriculture, processing, and tourism under the cooperation between the government, private companies, and the general public. The company's goal is national economic recovery and regaining Thailand's economic strength.

Operations of the company will be supervised by the Foundation Economic Development and Public-Government Cooperation Committee with results expected to be visible within 6-12 months in an attempt to enhance the nation’s competitiveness.

The government's inept interference, which included favoring those who supported them unconditionally, is a big part of the reason the country is falling behind the rest of the other ASEAN members. This looks like another get rich scheme for the rulers' cronies.

I think this is part of the Pracharath thingy that the Junta/PM is keen on, this week.

The social enterprises will be run on business lines with their own boards, managing director (MD) and advisers, and will come under a holding company
holding company , known as the "Pracharath Raksamakkee company".
The Pracharath Raksamakkee company will be run under the Pracharath, or people - state partnership model, initiated by the government.

It sounds like a convoluted "company", with unknown funding, questionable goals, no oversight and no metrics to judge success/failure.

Just the sort of thing that would whip the yellows into a frenzy if the previously elected government(s) did such a thing.
