Govt continues to support investment in Sa Kaeo SEZ

SA KAEO, 3 June 2016 (NNT) – The government is pushing ahead with its effort to attract investors to the special economic zone in the eastern province of Sa Kaeo, targeting to rake in at least 5 billion baht worth of investment in the year 2017.

At a seminar on investment promotion in the Sa Kaeo special economic zone, Industry Minister Atchaka Sibunruang stated that the government is determined to set the area as a hub for investment and a budget has been prepared for the improvement of basic infrastructure to accommodate the incoming investors. She said a one-stop service center will also be set up to facilitate traders conducting business with neighboring countries.

Moreover, the Board of Investment is offering both tax and non-tax incentives to investors in 23 industries as a way of boosting trade and investment in the area. Those industries include agricultural processing, textiles and garments, and electrical appliances and electronics.

Last year, investment capital within the Sa Kaeo special economic zone surpassed 20 billion baht while another 10 billion baht is expected this year. For 2017, a minimum of 5 billion baht is being targeted.
