I am going to KL next week trying for an O marriage visa. I have over 400,000Bt in the bank, but not the now required monthly income. Is there a good chance I will be turned down, and if so can I then apply for a double or single entry visa. I am currently on a tourist visa.

P.S. any suggestions how to get to the Thai consulate from the air port. Are there hotels/guesthouses in the area, and approx. how long does the process take.

Thank you for any responses

I believe the money requirement is only need when you extend the visa. When you apply for the extension, you need either 400,000 in the bank or the 40,000/month income. Both is not required.

I requested an extension in Chiang Mai recently and only had to show 40,000/month.

You do not need money to obtain a visa. Both Kuala Lumpur and Singapore seem to still provide multi entry type valid for one year for those married. You submit in morning and pickup next (workday) afternoon I believe. Remember both national and Thai holidays will be observed. Believe KL has overhead train service into town.

If you will not be able to extend your stay on the basis of 40k monthly income with immigration any time soon you should try to obtain the multi entry visa. If you can extend than it would not be required. Take marriage certificate, copy of wife ID card and bank passbook as added evidence (not likely to be asked for however). Most currently seem to be using Singapore so you might give KL a phone call to be sure you have everything they want but do not believe you will have any problems.

400,000 in the bank is no longer an option for new aplicants. Must have 40,000 a month joint income.
