Chucheep and Witthaya are moved to Corrections Department’s hospital for treatment



BANGKOK: -- Former agriculture minister Chucheep Harnsawat and his former secretary, Mr Witthaya Thienthong, were moved from Bangkok Special Prison to the Corrections Department’s hospital for medical treatment.

Bangkok Special Prison’s commandant, Mr Aryut Sinthoppant, said that doctors from the department’s hospital were dispatched to undertake medical checkups of the two men who suffer from high blood pressure and other ailments because of their old age.

After the examinations, he said doctors had recommended that they should be moved to the hospital for medical treatment and that they could be kept under close watch of the doctors.

For the time being, Mr Aryut said that he could not say how long the two men would be kept at the hospital.

Mr Chucheep and Mr Witthaya were sentenced to six-year imprisonment each after they were found guilty of corruption in fertilizer procurement by the Supreme Court’s criminal division for political office holders. The verdict is final.

Several relatives and friends showed up today to visit the two convicts.

Mr Aryut said the visitors would be allowed to visit the duo altogether.

Visits are allowed during office hours from Monday to Friday. But for Saturdays, visits are permitted until noon.

So they get a nicer "cell" for their detention period. Can get visits in daytime and probably an occasional visitor will stay overnight. Not exactly the "Bangkok Hilton". Money talks.

Such a rapid transfer to a comfortable facility.....compare with the way Uncle sms was treated.

...like someone asked....'Will they even serve a day?'....

Next ? Well, barricaded in by 'family and friends' of course !

Immediate transfer to better condition in the hospital.What a scam . Ordinary prisoners have a struggle to receive basic medical treatment and live in overcrowded conditions .The well connected still win even on the very rare occasions they are imprisoned.
