Asking on behalf of a friend,

He wants to get a Non O visa based on marriage but at the moment does not have the required funds (400k I believe?)

I have told him to apply at Savannakhet as they don't require proof of funds there,

Is this is what is required to apply for the visa there?

Original marriage certificate -

1 copy of marriage certificate -

1 copy of passport photo page signed

1 copy of wife’s ID card, signed and dated by my wife -

1 copy of wife’s Blue Book (Tabian Ban) signed and dated by wife -

5000 Baht visa fee

He has no Tabien Baan, he lives in a rented house, is this going to be a problem and do they ask for this?

With this visa every 90 days does he have to leave Thailand or can he report at his local Immigration?

Will he get close to 15 months if he leaves and returns close to the last date on the stamp?

After the 15 months can he go to Savannakhet and apply for the same visa again?

Thanks in advance for any help

There is no requirement for the applicant to have yellow tambien ban. Only a copy of the wife's house book registry is needed and it does not have to be for where they are living.

He has to leave the country every 90 days to get a new entry.

By doing an entry on or before the enter before date on the visa he would get a new 90 day entry which would allow a total stay of 15 months. By getting a 60 day extension to visit his wife it would almost 17 months,

At this time he could go back to Savannakhet and get another visa.

Thanks for the info Joe,

I don't understand what you mean by a copy of the wife's house book registry? They have been living in Vietnam for the last 6 months (just arrived back in Thailand today)

They will be living in rented acommadation (sp)

What do you mean by wife's house book as again they will be living in a rented place,

Every Thai is registered in a house book for somewhere. It could be their parents, another family member or even a friends house.

He would need to leave every 90 days, but each entry could be extended once by 60 days at immigration for 1,900 baht.

60 days? or 30?

As he is married he can apply for a 60 day extension to visit his wife.

So he can stay 90 days then extend at Immigration for 60 days so in effect 150 days each time before having to leave then repeating the process again?

He pays 1900 Baht to extend, no money in the bank is needed to be shown at the 60 days extension stage?

It's possible to extend any permit to stay by 60 days if you are married to, or the parent of, a Thai.
