Last week I went to immigration to apply for a 1 year extension on my O visa.

Everything went smoothly, all papers in order etc, but when it came to paying it was

1000 bht cheaper than last year. I'm not complaing, but is there a standard fee that should be paid for an extension?

What did you all pay?

There is no extra 3,100 baht. The TM.7 fee is 1,900 baht and that fee is clearly indicated in both Thai and English on the form.

Many people also obtain a re entry permit at the same time at either 1,000 baht for single entry or 3,800 baht for multi entry; but this is not required.

Hmm strange why I was asked to pay 5000 then.

As lopburi3 stated, 1900 Baht except if adding re-entry permits to it. Only other thing, were you in overstay and had to pay a penalty or missed your 90 day reporting. Only thing left that would make it more then 1900 Baht.

No overstay or anything. I don't think it would be wise to post the name

of the office over here either.

Sorry for bringing this up again but I see Noodles is in Samui. I and many others have been charged 5000 Baht with no reciept by Samui immigration. Last time I brought it up I got no response from Samui members and no one seemed to believe me. Any more Samui members out there? :o:D:D

Then something is messed up there. Immigration is also required to supply you with a receipt. Not sure what recourse there is except reporting it to Bangkok.

Aah, Samui, the Eastbourne of Thailand. :D

Is it the uniform that makes you lot cower and crawl away, rather than stand up and challenge someone in authority ripping you off?

Just challenge the officer concerned or live with it; pathetically whingeing on this forum will get you nowhere... :o

Don`t worry Noodles he is from Pattaya. A nice bloke really but has a jealous streak whenever Samui is m :D:D:D entioned.

It is not easy to suggest to an immigration official that maybe he is just a little bit corrupt when your future is in his hands.

My ignorance I agree for not knowing the correct amount to pay before hand, but when I ask the immigration officer 'How much is this?' once all paper work has been completed, and I am told 5000...hey!

Really it's pay up or not get my visa...I love the way people are so quick to judge on this forum.

I had a pretty good idea of the correct fee , but what can you do when told it is 5000? I cannot believe there are no other Samui members on this forum. I know of others who have paid this. Easy to condemn and make snide remarks, but what do you do.?

My mate paid 5,000 a couple of weeks ago - it seems to be the norm. There's no point in arguing about it. Let's face it it's still cheaper than visa runs.

That`s not the point. The fee is 1,900. If they are taking 3,100 Baht extra off everyone .A lot of money.

Always wondered why they were so cheerful and helpful.

Never said it was right - just the way it is - and yes the extra 3,100 seems to be for the cheerful service!

Also from Samui, paid 5,000 each time for 5 years already :o . Argued about it, respons have always been, "this 3,100 extra is a quick service charge" :D . Same for my mate. Last year suddenly just the 1,900, no reason why. Supose they got some eyes on them finaly :D .

Good man. I am quite relieved to find out I am not the only one.

Will question it next time. Maybe they will not be smiling so much now. :D:D:D Before.

Yes, you should argue about it, but they will not care :o . Booth me and my wife actually told them that we would complain higher up, but just a smile as respons. I think it's funny it havn't been up here on forum before, should be good if the right people read about it here. They also did the same thing with my parents pension visas, they paid 5,000 each and got bills with 1,900 :D ! They thought they got the wrong bill and asked why 1,900, just got smiles back. I tried to explain to them how it works here sometimes, but they still can't believe it to this day :D !Samui immigration do have their own rules, not only regarding visa issues, also regarding who can work on or without work permits, seems some people and companys here live in "free-zons", as they never check work permits more than on the people they already know have them. I could write a book about our confrontations with Samui immigration and Tourist police, would be a fun read with some unbelievable stuff :D .

Maybe things will change even here, time will tell.
