BANGKOK: -- A man who claimed to be a police officer and threatened a motorist with gun on Rama 3 after a traffic incident was arrested in Nakhon Ratchasima and escorted back to Bangkok today to face several charges.

Mr Udomsap Lomkaew was arrested in Chakarat district after going into hiding when a video clip showing him walking towards the motorist with a revolver in his hand and shouting was widely shared on the social media.

In the clip, he was heard shouting at the motorist and declaring he was a police inspector.

After the clip went viral on the internet, he abandoned his Honda car on a road in Sam Khok district of Pathumthani and then went into hiding.

Investigation later by metropolitan police showed he was not a police officer but just a mobile phone seller at a shopping plaza.

He was also found to have several criminal records on the police files.

Bang Pongpang station police in Bangkok said he faces primary charges of having handgun in possession without licence, carrying gun into public place with no appropriate reason, and life threatening other.

I expect to see these incidents go through the roof, if/when the government decriminalize yaba.

And does anyone really think this will go anywhere other than the waste paper basket, no interesting photo op's or brown paper bags in this one.

I don't think it will ever happen, though I believe it would be a sensible thing to do overall.

Too many bribe opportunities to be lost.

One day one of us might be confronted with the same situation. Living in Thailand is a game of chance. It's about how many chances you have.

Nah, if they pull a gun or knife as a threat, just walk away. No problem really.

He hasn't got the right calibre to be police inspector so he's probally looking down the barrel at a few years!

Why would it be sensible to legalize it?

I am kinda proud that this group appear to have actually got up of their asses and found the guy..............

We need to hear more reports of 'good work' by the police...........

'Congrats' to this station.....................

Nah, if they pull a gun or knife as a threat, just walk away. No problem really.

Really??????

This plan works every time?????????????

Are you sure????????? Have you done it OFTEN????????????

On this past 02 May i was driving into BKK on Suk below On nut BTS.

A local bumped into my pickup and as there was too much bus traffic to

Immediately pull to the left side he produced a gun and waved it out his window pointing it at me.

Then it became a game of cat and mouse. Finally i was able to pull right and the first thing he said was

why didn't you pull over immediately. I just stated "would he if I had a gun pointed at him.

He then demanded 100,000 THB from me for the damage to his car.

Long story short. No police were interested in believing me. Insurance finally came and did their job.

I have a perfect frontal photo of him with his man purse with the gun still inside. Taken in front of his car

showing the license tag number and the small scratch on his front left bumper.

I now have a dash-cam in my vehicle.

Quite a shocking experience as I was sure he was going to fire at any moment.

Ah The joys of motoring in Thailand.

Taksin implemented the death penalty for drug users years ago. The police killed thousands.. Now they want to decriminalize it?!

You gotta wonder why they let some people cover their faces like this? Chances are this guy is connected and will walk away just having to pay some tea money. Will probably get his gun back too if it was even confiscated in the first place.

I'm not an expert but in USA, the drugs was has, by consensus been lost

Legalising would enable the traffickers to be put out of business.

But as I said, I'm not an expert...

That easy is it? What if the perp doesn't want you to walk away?

You have a choice------- you get a hole in your stomach or another hole(making three) in your a%#se.Like you say____' no problem really' !!!!!!

....several criminal records ......but never did time...???

...certainly not reformed.....

One will have anouther gun in his private collection for sure.

I wonder who gets the mask/sun glass treatment and others get smiling fingers pointed. Is there a reason in the rhyme? Like the whore that killed the stock broker after he "gave" her millions?
