evadgib
Hi All, Has anyone done this recently by public transport? Are flight timetables compatible if flying from Surrathani into Bkk & changing for Buri Ram? How about Coach & train? Any feedback appreciated from any that have done it recently
roiethome
Nok Air has two flights per day from Don Mueang, early morning and afternoon and Air Asia has one flight a day from DM in the afternoon. Buri Ram airport is a long way out of town, but taxi service to city centre easy to arrange,
Estrada
Air Asia: Surat Thani 08.40hrs 09.50 to Bangkok then Bangkok 12.25 to Buriram 13.20hrs. You can pre-book a fly ride to Buriram Town as the Airport is way out of town.
John Kane
Take a bus. They're great! Cheap sensible and they go to the center of town. You can take more with you on a bus than you can on a plane. Less hassle all around. The train really sucks. Very slow too. But you can send a lot of stuff cheaply by train. Birdman
as far as I know there are regular non stop minibuses to all corners of Isaan at the Ring Road just outside Nathon direction Lamai. BTW, don't go to Buriram now. Go in March/April, it's like Africa's hot savannas without animals....fantastic!

evadgib
Feedback for anyone looking to do same in the near future: - Early morning minibus (Donsak-Surratthani) & Tuk Tuk (Surratthani-Airport) were a con and quite frightening; it is therefore advisable to arrange a lift or to leave your car in the car park (see later). - Air Asia were probably the better of the two airlines. Nok air ran an hour+ late to Buri ram and wouldn't budge re sending luggage to the final destination because we 'hadn't purchased through tickets'....despite paying for the outward journey (both flights with the same airline) at the same time! This unnecessary inconvenience struck me as ridiculous & something which could easily have been resolved during check in. Both Airlines at all 3 airports had kiosks serving walk-in passengers therefore there's no need to book outside peak times if you prefer not to. - The timetable for the return flight from Bkk makes it impossible to reach Samui the same day as you'll miss the boat. It is therefore advisable to either stay overnight in Bkk near Dong Maeung or Surratthani close to the airport until the following day (Hotel suggestions anyone?). Cars can be left in the car park, rendering your drive to the coast/boat considerably safer than the alternative. The VIP bus from Bkk might sound like a good idea but at 12 hours and at a similar price to the flight to Surratthani the only thing to be gained is a very sore arse!
