steve2112
i'm arriving at BKK at 12:30pm and there is a bangkok air flight to phuket at 13:55, so that's just under 1 1/2 hours. i know it can take about 30-40 mins to get through arrivals, then how long does it take from international arrivals to domestic departures? my recollection is its in the same building right, so shouldn't take long. anyone does it? is 1 1/2 hrs too short? thx PS, i'll have a checked bag Edited July 24, 2016 by steve2112
MJCM
You are cutting it really close with 1 Hour 25 Minutes. What if, - the plane arrival is delayed ? - Immigration queue is very long (last time coming back from SR, I had to wait +/- 45 Minutes) just to go through Immigration (however this was DMK) And most importantly Domestic Flight: Check-in Desk will be closed 40 minutes before departure time Link: https://www.bangkokair.com/pages/view/check-in-airport So you only in theory have a Max time of 13:55 - 40 min = 13.15 - 12:30 = 45 Min to get off the Plane, go through immigration, pick up your bag, walk to the checkin counter of Bangkok Air, checkin. dddave
I agree with MJCM that you are really cutting it fine...it's doable but your stars will have to be in pretty good alignment. If your arriving flight is even 15 minutes late, you're cooked. Don't forget there are 2 immigration areas...side by side, about a 3 minute walk apart. If the one closest to you looks like it has a long queue, check the TV monitor at the base of the ramp showing the other area...worth the walk if a much shorter line. Domestic departures are on the far left of the terminal as you enter from the front: Rows A & B
Chicog
Should be, I've never caught a Bangkok Airways flight that hasn't been late.
scorecard
Maybe send an e-mail to Bangkok Airways giving them all the time details and ask them to please hold domestic check-in open for a few minutes. Is it worth checking whether your international airline can arrange an automatic transfer of your luggage to the Bangkok Air flight? I have no idea if this possible but worth checking. Maybe ask your own airline or ask Suv. airport directly whether you can pay for an escort service to meet you and take you through one of the fast 'VIP' type passport desks. Khun Han
^ Bangkok Air have stopped interlining checked bags from international to domestic flights unless both flights are on the same ticket.

mikebell
Just don't go by BA - my flight was delayed in MAN for 90 minutes so missed my BKK connection in London. I & 4 others were transferred to an EVA flight and arrived just 6 hours later than I should have. My luggage arrived two days later despite being assured by BA it had been put on EVA flight. BA = Bloody Awful.

mtls2005
i'm arriving at BKK at 12:30pm and there is a bangkok air flight to phuket at 13:55, so that's just under 1 1/2 hours. MCT at BKK for this type of connection is 75 minutes, but plenty of caveats go with that figure. Can you add any more information, specifically: is this one, single ticket? or do you have two separate tickets? where will you begin your trip? which carrier? With one, single ticket (and certain partners), it is still possible to check bags through to HKT, clear mid-field Immigration at BKK, re-clear security, get a BP (at the connections desk), then clear Customs in HKT, making your MCT of 85 minutes feasible. Further, on a single ticket, you might be offered some "protection", allowing you to use a later PG flight to HKT, in the event you were to miss your scheduled BKK-HKT segment owing to scheduling/operational issues. Take a look at the loads on your desired flight, and the subsequent flights for that day. The main issue, if on two separate tickets, is that if you miss the PG flight you may/will be forced to "buy-up" to the currently available fare bucket, assuming the flight isn't sold out - I can confirm this. On two separate tickets I might opt for the next flight, but would need to understand the scheduling in more detail. https://www.bangkokair.com/pages/view/check-in-through http://suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/224-international-to-domestic-with-a-boarding-pass http://suvarnabhumiairport.com/en/1082-international-to-domestic-no-boarding-pass Edited July 25, 2016 by mtls2005

Ricardo
Certain inbound-flights are regularly late ... it might be worth the OP trying to check his particular flight & airline's performance ? The minimum stated International-to-Domestic connection-time is 75-minutes, so I'd tend to agree with others, when that say that it's very tight ! Thai Airways also operate BKK-HKT several times daily, with their own aircraft, as well as Thai Smile ... so check the www.thaiairways.website.
