OMGImInPattaya
So sad Thailand has chosen to go down this road...things were so hopeful when I first came here at the turn of the Millennium, with the recent enactment of the "People's Constitution." Those who did away with that constitution have allot to answer for. I'm going home now to wait out today in safety. Trang...Phuket...Surat Thani...Hua Hin have never been targeted by the southern insurgents. Possible but unlikely...more likely politically motivated violence...right after constitutional referendum and timed for this national holiday weekend. Another sad byproduct of the country's political polorization is that the police and assorted law enforcement authorities have been so throughly politicized that nobody is ever found responsible for these acts (the Erawan bombing was also about a year ago...anyone arrested for this (not including foreign patsys?). It's to the point where up is down and down is up when it comes to assigning blame. Edited August 12, 2016 by OMGImInPattaya
slipperylobster
Time for simple precautions. Might switch to some low profile venues away from the more popular "tourist" areas.....and far from Government Buildings. At least for the next few days. This is not to be taken lightly.... Nip
This old fence is rickety from my straddling it for years. If one pays attention to world history then there can be only one outcome to this unrest and as foreigners tolerated and barely welcomed its time to seriously consider ones options. Years ago when one dared to complain about the system of things on here you were attacked by all in sundry now people mostly agree with you.
