Loei court issues arrest warrant for Dhammachayo

LOEI: -- The Loei Provincial Court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Phra Dhammachayo or Phra Thepyarn Mahamunee on charges of encroachment and destruction of forests in national forest reserves, said Pol Col Nitipat Thawatvichien, deputy commander of Loei provincial police, on Tuesday.

He explained that the arrest warrant followed a finding by forest officials that the nor sor sam kor land certificate issued for Hinnawan forest park in Phu Rua district covering 129 rai of land in Phu Poei, Phu Khee Thao and Phu Rua was not legal.

Mr Sakchai Mongkolkeha, the guardian of Hinnawan forest, turned himself in after he was charged with forest encroachment.

Meanwhile, Wat Dhammakaya issued a statement insisting that the 129 rai of land in question did not belong to Phra Dhammakaya but belong to the temple and the nor sor sam kor document was fine.

The temple said in the statement that the 52-rai land plot did not belong to Wat Dhammakaya nor to Phra Dhammachayo but belong to Supamit Chinwong, a resident of Phu Rua district.

The Loei can now join the long line of government and law enforcement agencies wanting

a piece of that elusive abbot, they stand as much luck in apprehending the man as the other groups

who tried and failed, this man is untouchable......

So what,   if anything,   happens next   ?

Another DSI style pretty please letter inviting him to come in any time he is free and at his own convenience of course or will any attempt actually be made to execute this warrant   ?

Likely just more headaches for the impotent powers that be when he and his followers once again thwart the authorities who will continue to talk and do little else.

:coffee1:

He will just stick up his middle finger at Loei court same as he has already done with the DSI.

you could not make it up

just face, face, face

He is the tip of a very big iceberg. Temples, what a place to money launder. No transparency, no accounts, and above the law!

the authorities really meed to stop playing games with these corrupt temples/monks/abbotts. They are thumbing their noses at the law and no one has the balls to do anything about it, they need to go in and physically take those charged into custody and jail them. By allowing them to remain free and having total disregard for the laws of Thailand the justice system are making themselves a laughing stock bur thats nothing new here. Go in, grab the mongrels and toss them in jail along with anyone that tries to stop them, enough is enough

There seems to be some confusion about who actually owns this land in the following two sentences from the Thai PBS article:

"...Meanwhile, Wat Dhammakaya issued a statement insisting that the 129 rai of land in question did not belong to Phra Dhammakaya but belong to the temple and the nor sor sam kor document was fine.

The temple said in the statement that the 52-rai land plot did not belong to Wat Dhammakaya nor to Phra Dhammachayo but belong to Supamit Chinwong, a resident of Phu Rua district..."

Despite the confusion, the message is just as clear as that in another Thai PBS article involving the vintage Mercedes Benz "owned" by the acting Supreme Patriarch:

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) will summon the assistant abbot of Wat Paknam Phasicharoen temple to acknowledge charge of tax avoidance for his Mercedes Benz vintage car which was later transferred to Somdet Chuang, the abbot of the temple. (http://news.thaivisa.com/thailand/dsi-to-summon-luang-pee-pae-of-wat-paknam-to-hear-charge/150457/)

If Al Capone were still alive, even he would have to wonder at how these guys continue to thumb their noses at the justice system with impunity. Then again, Big Al probable wouldn't have been fooled by their antics, afterall he said "Hell must be a pretty swell spot, because the guys that invented religion have sure been trying hard to keep everybody else out".

....the fiasco goes on....

...still not arrested......

...do they expect this will change things...???

They need to offer a reward for his capture ,dead or alive

I think that they are hoping that if enough mud sticks that people will think about their support.

Loving these reforms!

one week to form a committee, 2 weeks of discussing strategies, 1 week warning on implementing strategy with all details, postponement of arrest attempt to a more auspicious date, ...silence, silence, silence...

An arrest warrant for the rich and influential isn't worth the paper it is written on.

In fact, to save embarrassment, I doubt I would even bother issuing one if I knew I didn't have the means to enforce it.
