Department of Social Development

Featured Replies

Firstly, not sure if this is the correct forum, if I'm wrong I'm sure a mod will move it to somewhere more appropriate.

Can someone enlighten me as to what is the function of this department?

I've translated it from the Thai:  กรมพัฒนาสังคม  I hope I did it correctly?

Tried googling and searching TV, but with no real success.

I went to a meeting they organsied about Thais with foreign spouses. It was all very  social, but I was trying to discover any thinking behind it, and what might have triggered such interest.

Incidentally we were there yesterday, at the Udon Thani office.

my gf's brother fathered a girl 5.5 year ago, they did not marry, the mother threw him and the little one out when the baby was 3 months old.

The father is an idiot parasite unable to take care of himself.

we have that baby in our household since she is 11 months.

asked the mother to give up her rights (I understand the unmarried father does not have any)

last week the mother finally agreed and we had to meet at this department to sign papers to get custody with two witnesses.

they still wan some pictures of our house including the 3 of us.

curious how this will develop, I don' know the power of this dept.

Thanks for the replies.

From the limited semi-social meeting I was involved with, the staff did seem professional, so hopefully you will have the outcome you're after.
