Thai Fin Min: Ports, Rails May Be Leased To Private Operators

BANGKOK -(Dow Jones)- Thailand's government is considering a plan to improve the efficiency of the country's logistics and transportation networks by allowing private companies to operate government seaports, Finance Minister Pridiyathorn Devakula said Thursday.

Pridiyathorn said at an economic seminar organized by a local university that if pilot projects leasing ports or terminals to the private operators work, the program might be expanded, and the same system could be attempted with railway lines or services.

He didn't provide any further details.
