PM Prayut confirms Thailand’s focus on development with people at the center

BANGKOK, 6 September 2016 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has assured the international community that Thailand will always recognize the importance of development that puts people at the center of social progress.

During his participation in the G20 Summit in HangZhou, China, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, who is the Chairman of the G77 countries, delivered his vision on the subject of " Development with Connectivity and Comprehensiveness " on the second day of the international gathering.

Gen. Prayut stated that such a development requires three key components, including global-level partnerships, the creation of connectivity, and recognition of a development approach that is suited to each country’s context.

While saying that global-level partnerships will enable G20 countries to help G77 nations, the PM went on to express his admiration for members of the G20 for recognizing the current development agenda and for collaborating with developing nations and minimizing gaps in the basic development of infrastructure, as well as for their support in the setting up of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

In addition, the Thai Prime Minister stressed that it is important to connect with the people and to make sure that any development plan is in accord with the social context of each country.

The question is: which people?

The setting up of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank should appeal to the PM. That's where he can borrow his money from to fund the ever increasing deficit and buy the the submarines and tanks and grandiose dreamtime railway systems.

The 2017 budget should make interesting reading when it is released just to see the how much the deficit has grown.

Military governments are not highly regarded for their financial discipline or the homely and caring disposition of their subjects.
