Thailand and the Philippines occupy respectively the 50th and 52nd position and are the most democratic states of the Association of South-East Asian Nations (ASEAN).

It's interesting to compare Thailand with Malaysia and Indonesia, the regions only other reasonably democratic countries, it seems Thailand is more open politically than Malaysia, but almost twice as corrupt, and only half as corrupt as Indonesia.

What does it all mean?

Both links are from 2005.

Wonder what they would say now... :o

And what about Singapore....? :o

"Despite its wealth and almost corruption-free status, Singapore ranks 79th because of media controls and limited freedom."

:D I am so sorry, you are right.

There's a NEW report from The Economist in the past few days and I have mentioned an old link.

Here's another one that says Sweden is the most democratic country in the world, but I can't find another link to The Economists' report that's open to the public. :D ...anyone ?
