For the past 2-3 months I've been getting brown water from the taps in my room: kitchen, bathroom, and toilet water. I live in a condo in Jomtien near the beach. Are other people having this issue? If so, do you know the cause? Attached is a photo from today.

Apparently there’s a broken pipe.

Yes there will be a broken pipe in the area ,we used to get it often till the

Mooban changed from clay pipes to plastic , you just have to wait till it

clears up...

You should talk to your condo management company.

As stated there maybe waterworks but contamination like that should not go on for months !

Sometimes happens when the somchais chean out the tanks, have they been doing that? condo office should say to run the taps until it's clear

I just washed the dinner dishes. When I began, the water from the kitchen tap was brown, but by the end it was fairly clear. This makes me think that there is sediment in the pipes that must be flushed out in order to access clear water.

Yes but it should not happen for months on end or every day

Thailand works on a low-pressure water supply system. That means that any bad joints or broken pipes suck impurities into the system (as in the venturi effect) as opposed to a high-pressure system that does the opposite. If you haven't got at least a 5 micron filter setup for general use and a four-filter <0.1 micron filter system for drinking water, you're screwed.

My 5 micron filter (after first going through a 40 micron pre-filter) is allegedly good for six months. Yeah right, it's totally fouled within two weeks and needs cleaning. The drinking water filters are rated for eight months but I change them every three months.

I always weigh the filters after drying them out after the changeover. The record contaminant weight for about three months usage is approximately 500 grams. That's a coffee cup and a half full of sand and rust - never mind the bacteria, parasites, and worse.

Buy a cheap sensor that measures total dissolved solids of unfiltered water and you will be scared to even take a shower in unfiltered water.

Very probably rust. If the OP runs the water for an extended time, it should clear.

Contractors working on mains pipes can easily dislodge rusted sections.

When I were a lad, we used to dream of having a tap.
