Syria: Unprecedented airstrikes hit Aleppo killing over 90

The Syrian Army’s offensive in rebel-held eastern-Aleppo is said to have been the heaviest in months. Over 90 people were killed and at least 200 were injured. The death toll is still rising. 15 neighbourhoods were hit and Russian jets were involved according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Rescue group targeted

Several Syrian civil defence group centres were targeted.
The group recently won the alternative Nobel prize for their bravery in rescuing civilians.

Volunteering in mortal danger

Images are emerging which show volunteers working tirelessly. Rescuers managed to save a toddler but volunteers say operating in the face of these deadly attacks is growing increasingly difficult.

A ‘ground offensive’ to come

The Syrian Military say the strikes precede a ground offensive. A quarter of a million people are estimated to be trapped in the besieged parts of Aleppo.

State media reports the army has prepared exit points to ensure civilians can flee – though this has been contested.

Images show a 5 year-old-girl being rescued from the rubble in the aftermath of the airstrikes but her parents and siblings were killed.Hopes that last week’s ceasefire might be renewed now seem more distant than ever.

Arhh ! The much anticipated ground offensive appears imminent. About time. Time for the Syrian Army to show who's who in the country. And bring this stalemate to an end once and for all.

I hope the Syrian army are properly backed up. Clearly Putin is on side, but May is an unknown quantity and Obama is such a wildcard I believe Obama is arming and helping the rebels against Assad still (even after all the evidence pointing to assad being the only human able to keep a lid on the pressure cooker we know as Syria). Arming the rebels will extend this bloodshed ad infinitum.

Absolutely. If the US and its cronies leave Syria, I am 100% certain that Assad and Putin will have this treacherous uprising put down within 2 months.

If Russians want to be responsible for eradicating ISIS they should say so. They have killed so many civilians in Aleppo and other places and they always deny everything

The US has not been heavily involved,  And their strikes have been directed towards IS as much as possible.  As opposed to Syria and Russia who are bombing anything and everything.

If Russia left, this war would be over.  You did read about Russia and Syria bombing the aid convoy while it was at a Syrian Arab Red Cross warehouse?  Sick.

Congrats to Russia!

It's now been reported the bombing by Russia and Syria has knocked out the water supply to 2 million people there.  Great job!

Is Russia going to help pay for the rebuilding?

Can we pack up and ship all Syrian's/Nigerian's/Moroccan's/Tunisian's and dump them in Russia like paratroopers?

We can invite Britian back in the EU as Merkel's career looks finished.
