CDC: Independent organizations will be not disbanded under new organic laws

Thammarat Thadaphrom

BANGKOK, 25 September 2016 (NNT) - The Constitution Drafting Commission (CDC) has confirmed that it listens to every opinion expressed on organic laws while brushing aside a rumor that independent organizations will be terminated.

CDC chairperson Meechai Ruchuphan said today that he wouldn't meddle in the feud between election commissioners, and that it is not for the CDC to decide who is right or wrong.

When asked about draft organic laws, Meechai said the team will make sure that all voices are heard before making final decisions on each draft act. The CDC will be hosting public forums on September 28 onwards to solicit public input.

The chairperson also played down a rumor that independent agencies will be disestablished once organic bills are put into law.

Should any organization be disbanded, he said there will be a logical reason for it, and the organization will be informed well in advance.

How can independent organizations be terminated as there aren't any !

" CDC chairperson Meechai Ruchuphan said today that he wouldn't meddle in the feud between election commissioners, and that it is not for the CDC to decide who is right or wrong."

This has been par for the course for the election commission / commissioners for many years.

Way too many show ponies looking for a chance in the spotlight, who think they are experts when in fact they clearly aren't.

The woman in the last bunch the prime example.

Needs a better profile of suitability and a more focused recruitment process.

So what is the new organic law that was the basis of a recent referendum?

Whatever is said now, cannot be trusted to exist in the future. The whole refendum was a farce.

Isn't it funny how the referendum vote suddenly resulted in being justification for other ' laws ' etc that had never been mentioned previously but were, apparently, inherent in the referendum process ?

Or  not inherent in the referendum process.

Constitutional Organizations (previously labled as Independent Organizations in the 2007 Constitution) were established by and approved by the referendum on the 2016 draft constitution in Chapter XII, Part 1, Section 215-247 that states in part:

  • The Constitutional Organizations are the organizations established with the aim to independently perform duties in accordance with the Constitution and laws.
  • Each Constitutional Organization, excluding the State Audit Commission, shall have an office responsible for administrative affairs, operations and facilities so as to ensure that the Organization will achieve its mission and duties as provided in the Constitution and the law and perform according to the resolution or direction it so has determined.

If the NCPO and/or its surrogate agencies has the authority to even discuss disestablishing Independent/Constitutional Organizations prescribed by the 2016 draft constitution approved by referendum, it mocks the referendum results and shows the People's Constitution to be truly a facade.

Are organic laws sprouted form shit?
