Driving in UK on a Thai license

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any experience driving in UK with their Thai driving license? do they accept the Thai license at hire companies etc?  Do they accept English people holding a Thai license to drive in UK?

Lastly, is there a requirement for a International driving license to go with the Thai license? and if so, how is a international license to go with the Thai license obtained?

yes, i do.

And yes, it's accepted.

No, an IDP is not needed.  As long as your license is a five year one you'll be fine.

No problem hiring and driving on a Thai license and no, an IDP is not required.

Hire companies prefer their customers to use a non-British licence as it is easier for them to process.

Yes - I've also used my Thai Driving License.  Not sure my UK one is valid anymore as I don't have a UK address.  No need for an IDP.

Must be a full 5-year Thai DL. The 2-year one is the same as a provisional license and will not be accepted.
