Need new laptop Pattaya

Featured Replies

Hello

I must change my laptop and my knowledge in computers is almost zero

I use the laptop for

. Mails

. Visit internet sites and buy on line (should be fast)

. Check bank accounts, make transfers etc

. Lots of administrative issues to follow up with word

I don t think I need something very expensive..

Would anyone have a recommandation ?

Should I go to Tukcom, Numchai, Big C .. or ?

Thanks in advance

Have a nice day

I bought a really cheap one, Acer E-11 at Central Mall.  I use it as my home computer and hook it up to large monitor and external regular keyboard. I doesn't have much storage so I hook up external drives to it for that. It didn't expect much from it but it's been great for me, reliable, and long lasting. Surely enough for your needs.

I bought a Acre works for me I just play backgammon on it and emails new was 7000 or 8000 bht

Tukcom is going down.

A couple of shops have moved to the new Harbor mall.

Your requirements are very basic.

Personally I would still look for a full feature laptop with DVD drive and detachable battery.

I use my laptop without battery at home. Saves the battery.

Not much dependent on speed of the device.

Internet provider/connection is the point.

Hi Domdom,

I just had a hand in helping stepdaughter get a laptop, from my research it appears that all the laptops sold at Tesco, Big C & Robinson universally come without an operating system (like Windows) so you'll need to factor in buying a legitimate copy of Windows.

Banana IT, IT City, JIB, Active and a few other 'proper' computer shops offer a choice, but it's a minefield, check the small print on the ticket for what's included!

I'd avoid the Linux, Ubuntu options etc unless you want the learning experience.

We eventually went for a 12,990 Baht Core i3 Lenovo from Banana IT (in Seacon Square, but then we're in SamutPrakan) in a sealed box with factory installed Windows 10, young sales guy was actually quite helpful, with my Thai and his English he offered to and ran through the initial setup wih us.

Why not get a tablet, I have a Samsung tablet and a Microsoft Surface, they work fine for me.

Tukom generally  sell copies from China, Central and PowerBuy sell genuine.

Unfortunately true.

And at the booths they will put on some dodgy overloaded pirate copy.

I don't care too much as I would reinstall Windows anyway.

Not for everyone.

For surfing, movies, music, entertainment OK.

But the OP wants to use word (guess some MS Word version).

On a tablet?

Have a look at invadeIT in Hua Hin: http://www.invadeit.co.th/

The owner, Thomas, is extremely knowledgeable and can be trusted to give you good advice as to the best machine for your needs. Purchases are overnighted to Pattaya, and Thoma is superb on after sale service.

I have made him my sole source for computer items for five years now, and never once been disappointed.

Many, but not all. You need to study the labels carefully. Tesco certainly had several machines with Windows included the last time I looked, and they weren't necessarily the most expensive ones.

A friend of mine got a very good deal at IT City, and that also included real Windows.

I saw some nice tablets at Big C ACER 8000 to 9000 bhat didn't notice if they had an OS.

Yeah I recommend buying with Windows installed. Mine was still cheap with that. It was 7 at the time but soon upgraded to 10 ... free.

Hello,

Thanks to all of you. With 1st comments I could avoid going to Tesco and Big C. Went to Numchai but nothing had windows.. Went to Harbor and there found a Dell with windows installed. Important, can be repaired in Pattaya, they have home service.

Thanks again.

Have a nice week end
