Wireless Adsl Modem Router

Featured Replies

I have TT&T Maxnet Adsl and would like to buy a wireless modem router, has anyone got this set up and if so was there any problems setting it up, thanks in advance.

I'm repasting a previous post here for the most part:

Make sure any wireless router you get has WPA encryption not WEP which is easily compromised.

All routers should include a firewall. Anything from D-link, or LinkSys will be fine for home or small business networking, and not too difficult to setup. Just be sure to change your router's default passwords. No need to go fancy, the entry level ones are more than enough. Avoid buying something new and gimicky. I've seen a hundred of these things come and go.

Don't buy a cheap, unknown brand as these are often crap. (Most of the junk you find in markets and discount electronics shops in Thailand)

A good resource for networking:

I have been using a Linksys wireless modem/router for two years now (upcountry). It took five minutes to install, and has functioned flawlessly ever since.

There are reports that these devices suffer from overheating, but I have never experienced that problem.

What model are you using as today I saw a LINKSYS 54G one in Tuk Com for 2500B, probably an old model.

It's a WAG54G v2, described as 2.4Ghz 802.11g "Wireless G" ADSL Gateway.

Don't buy it without the Linksys setup software.
