BANGKOK: -- A health spokesman has warned the public about buying cheap dentures at markets and roadside stalls. He has said that consumers risk all sorts of infections and problems by trying to buy on the cheap.

Praphon Angtrakun an under secretary at the Food and Drug Administration was speaking after reports that more and more dodgy gnashers were being sold in Bangkok by people taking advantage of cut price offers and quick service, reports Sanook.

Praphon said that the sellers of such services were not regulated by the Public Health Ministry. Consumers stood the risk of developing serious mouth infections from unhygienic practices.

Equipment used in the making of the dentures could well be sub-standard and dirty and the people offering such services were unlikely to be trained professionals.

Consumers fitting partial dentures could cause considerable and irreparable damage to existing teeth by fitting dentures improperly made, he added.

He advised anyone with dental issues to seek out a trained professional and avoid the "cheap and fast" services being offered around the city at markets, roadside stalls and even department stores.

The best headline of the day.

I hope he hasn't bit of more than he can chew with his comments.

I have dentures from the 2nd hand market. They almost fit well and the vendor made them fit with his engravingmachine.

Saved me a lot of money! :cowboy:

Knowing the monks propensity for never missing an opportunity to turn a coin, I bet not many dearly departed are cremated while still wearing their falsies

Business is business

They have to save up for their new merc  anyway they can

Selling second hand teeth and re-building individual dentures out of old ones is called creativity.

The PM is on a winner with his call for new Thai technology and cutting edge innovation.

At least this innovation is legal which is a change.

I needed a key for my bathroom door. After the guy cut my new key, he banged out a set of dentures out of metal keys.

They work great. I used my front teeth to unlock my front door, last night.
