BANGKOK, 29 October 2016 (NNT) – Areas around the Grand Palace today are in orderly fashion as officials continue to provide conveniences to mourners of the late His Majesty the King.

Police Commissioner-General Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has led a group of senior police officers to oversee security protection operations and facilitation at areas around the Grand Place in Bangkok for the general public who have come to pay respect to the late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej on the first day they are allowed to enter Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall to pay homage before the royal urn of the late monarch.

He said the situation is in orderly fashion and uneventful, while extra screening measures are in place in preparation to accommodate more people that are expected to come into the area in the afternoon. The area around the Grand Place is under the 24-hour control from 3,000 policemen.

All roads around the palace remain closed for today and tomorrow, while traffic information will be evaluated daily with no problems or obstacles as of present. The highway police has also been assigned to work with related agencies to provide conveniences to the general public traveling into Bangkok from other provinces.
