Thai Feed Mill Association to buy corn for at least 8 baht per kg to stabilize prices

BANGKOK, 7 November 2016 (NNT) – The Thai Feed Mill Association is ready to purchase corn at a price of at least eight baht per kilogram, in order to stabilize corn prices.

The Thai Feed Mill Association President Phornsin Phatcharintanakul has disclosed that the association is willing to buy 300,000 tons of corn at the price of eight baht per kilogram in November, in order to stabilize the corn prices nationwide.

The corn yield in December is expected at around 4.5 to 4.7 million tons, which will be enough to meet the demand. However, the association will ensure that the purchase price will not be above eight baht per kilogram, he said.

To address the problem in a long run and stabilize the price of corn, the association has proposed a management plan of the corn and wheat, to be imported on a monthly basis in accordance with the demand, and to provide quality seeds to farmers to improve productivity and reduce farming costs, said the President of Thai Feed Mill Association.

He stated that raising taxes on imported wheat will only make it more expensive and leave the corn pricing issue unsolved.

Does that mean the price of already expensive Corn Flakes will go up.

Quality seeds? Ohhh from Monsanto maybe?  Isn't that corn only for pigs?
